John Glover Greeting Cards Wallet

John Glover (1767-1849) was born in England, and taught drawing and painting. He made many sketching trips throughout Britain, and also travelled in France and Italy.  Glover's three younger sons emigrated to Van Diemen's Land and persuaded their father to join them and, at 64 years of age Glover, his wife and eldest son set sail.  They arrived in Hobart Town on 1 April 1831.
Glover explored and sketched around Hobart, attempting to accurately record the colours and character of the Tasmanian landscape.  The family later moved to Mills Plains at the foot of Ben Lomond, buying a property which they named Patterdale, after a favourite area in England.  Glover explored, sketched and painted in many areas in Tasmania, including Ben Lomond, Lake St. Clair and neighbouring properties.
The Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery has the most comprehensive of any collection of Glover's work in Australia. The elegant John Glover wallet consists of 8 blank greeting cards, each detailing a different painting from the collection, and depicting Glover's unique style and skills.
